Gallery - The Sleepwatchers
Conceived and directed by Slater with Jim Cave, THE SLEEPWATCHERS takes the audience surfing across the brainwaves of Stanford Sleep Specialist Dr. William Dement, best known for his theories on the profound effect of sleep loss as it affects contemporary societys mental and physical well being. Probing that most unguarded and intimate of experiences, The Sleepwatchers takes an interior journey in an intensely physical, choreographed form, examining how sleep affects our sense of time, culture, and relationships. Visually beautiful, and emotionally funny, THE SLEEPWATCHERS is a parable for our sleep-deprived times.
Performed at Dance Mission, San Francisco, CAMay 3, 4, 5 and 10, 11, 12, 2001
